Foreigners may be admitted to higher education studies at the Pedagogical University of Krakow, conducted in Polish, provided that they:

  • complete a preparatory course to take up education in Polish at any of the institutions designated by the minister competent for higher education, or
  • have a certificate of proficiency in Polish at level B1 or higher, or have a certificate of proficiency in Polish at the level specified in the detailed qualification criteria for the particular fields of study, issued by the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language, or
  • obtain a confirmation issued by the Centre for the Teaching of Polish as a Foreign Language at the Pedagogical University that their command of Polish enables them to undertake studies in Polish at the level required and specified in the detailed admission criteria, or
  • have a certificate of maturity issued in the Polish educational system, or
  • graduated from a secondary school abroad where classes were conducted in Polish.

Foreigners are subject to the same admission criteria as candidates holding the ‘old school-leaving certificate’ (‘stara matura’).

1Fill in the electronic registration form on our website rekrutacja.up.krakow.pl (start of registration: 1st June 2023).

2Prepare relevant documents:

  1. printout of the registration form from the electronic recruitment system
  2. a copy of Certificate of Maturity/Diploma, either authenticated or bearing an apostille, or of any other document obtained abroad as a proof of eligibility to apply for admission to degree programmes at any type of higher education institution in the country where the institution issuing the certificate/diploma operates, together with a translation into Polish made by a sworn translator (original available for inspection)
  3. a photocopy of your Pole’s Card – if you have one
  4. a photocopy of your permanent residence card – if you have one
  5. a copy of your certificate of Polish origin – if you have one
  6. a copy of a Certificate of Proficiency in Polish at level C1 or higher issued by the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language – if you have one
  7. a photocopy of a certificate of knowledge of the Polish language at the required level issued by a relevant institution
  8. a photocopy of your insurance policy
  9. two current photographs compliant with ID photo requirements (35×45 mm)

3Documents No. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 should be placed in the electronic recruitment system on the individual candidate's account.

4If you have been admitted, you still must enrol. For this purpose, scans of all the documents should be sent to the e-mail address of the unit conducting a given field of study, by the date indicated by the admissions committee.
